1) Overview

Exam Café provides advice, support materials and activities related to maximising your potential in exams.

The content is separated into three zones as follows:
  • Relax and Prepare
    Information and activities to assist with exam preparation
  • Refresh your Learning
    Help and guidance on improving your subject knowledge
  • Result! Reach your Potential
    Tips and activities to help you maximise your potential during examinations
Links to Word, PDF, and PowerPoint documents will open in a new browser window. Interactive activities will open within Exam Café and can be closed by clicking the Back button to return to the previous page.

Back Button

Some links (PDF files) may require Adobe Reader to be installed if you do not already have it on your computer. Visit www.adobe.com to install the latest edition.

Keyboard Control

To navigate through Exam Café using the keyboard use the tab key to move right, hold the shift key and tab to move left. Use the space bar to activate links. When selecting items on the menu page use the up/down arrow.

2) Home Page

The home page provides access to the three zones of Exam Café. Click on Menu to get a text only version of the navigation.

3) Content Zones

a) Relax and Prepare

This zone provides information on preparing for examinations. Rollover the hotspots indicated below and click to activate the content.

b) Refresh your Learning

This zone provides help and guidance on improving your subject knowledge. Rollover the hotspots indicated below and click to activate the content.

c) Result! Reach your Potential

This zone provides tips and advice on how to maximise your potential during examinations. Rollover the hotspots indicated below and click to activate the content. Result Zone

4) Interactive Activities

a) Multiple choice questions (includes Test your vocabulary)

The multiple choice questions are separated into a number of module areas. When selecting a multiple choice activity from the Refresh your Learning menu you will be able to select the topic that interests you. Once in the multiple choice questions screen you can re-select any topic module via the drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

When you get to the end of a set of questions you will be presented with a summary of how many questions you answered correctly. You can try them again or select a different module.

b) Sample student answers

This activity presents typical student answers to exam questions along with examiners' comments on the answers. You can choose to display either:
  • just the question;
  • the question with the student answer; or
  • the question, the student answer and the examiner comments.
If you need a printed version of the question you can open a Word version of the questions for that module by clicking the printer icon Word version Icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

When you select the Sample student answers activity from the Result! Reach your Potential menu you will be able to select the topic you are interested in. Once in the sample student answers screen you can re-select any topic module via the drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
