A comparison of the oxidation of 1o, 2o and 3o alcohols.

Add 5cm3 of dilute Sulphuric acid to a boiling tube.
Add a few drops of potassium dichromate (VI) solution
Add a few drops of propan – 1 – ol, a primary alcohol.
Set up another tube using proan – 2 – ol, a secondary alcohol.
Set up another tube using 2 – methyl propan – 2 – ol, a tertiary alcohol.
Heat the mixtures in a water bath for about 5 minutes and record your results.
